This is us
Hands of Compassion is a Christian non-profit organisation in Gqeberha, South Africa, supporting children and families in vulnerable communities. Through practical care, youth development and safe spaces for children, we are committed to bringing hope and lasting change where it is needed most.
Each week, our community soup kitchen provides warm meals to families facing food insecurity. Through our ARISE programme, children learn life skills through recreation, helping them build confidence, grow in character, and make positive choices for their future.
By investing in children today, we aim to break cycles of poverty, strengthen families, and build healthier communities across the Eastern Cape.
What we do
Hands of Compassion is a non-profit organisation in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape Our work is dedicated to caring for the whole person — mind, body, and spirit
Food & Care
Every weekend, we run a community soup kitchen in Rocklands and Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, providing warm and nutritious meals to around 250 vulnerable children. For many of these children, this is often the only proper meal they receive in days, making this support essential for their health and well-being.
Before eating, children spend several hours with us in structured recreational activities, including games, sports, and singing.
Life Skills
Through ARISE – our youth development programme, we support children in the age of 9-12 years in developing important life skills through recreational activities, dance, sports and guided reflection.
Children learn practical skills such as teamwork, respect, discipline, communication, and responsible decision-making. Our goal is to help young people build strong character, develop confidence, and choose positive paths for their lives.
Faith & Support
As a Christian non-profit organisation in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, faith is at the foundation of our work.
Together with our church partner, Bethel Ministries, we create safe and supportive spaces where children and families facing difficult circumstances can grow in hope, purpose, and strong values. Through positive relationships, we help young people build confidence, resilience, and life skills that guide them toward a brighter future.
Our Vision

The center will provide:
